Focus on Education or Clothing? Insanity, doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a different result. Evenings spent laying out school clothes for grandchildren quickly teaches us just how insane current expectations for school dress decisions are each day. Individuals will face this problem on a daily basis, which can lead to overwhelming stress. Enforcing mandatory school uniforms can benefit each family member in monumental ways. Uniforms can lift financial burdens for parents and the constant peer comparison for children. It also allows students of differing backgrounds to be brought together to express themselves equally. One clearly can see that school uniforms should become mandatory in all public educational†¦show more content†¦Some students feel the need to wear fashionable clothing to express self-worth, while others feel the need to wear extremely casual clothing to be comfortable. Instituting uniforms would end human competitive nature over wh at to wear each day. When uniforms are mandatory, parents and students do not need to spend mornings deciding appropriate outfits for the school day. Implementing these changes would end the battle over clothing forever. Consider the cost of a uniform over the cost of being in style, it is clear which would win. For parents, the burden of costs normally becomes theirs as children have the need to wear certain brands of clothing to fit into friend groups. â€Å"The average cost of a uniform of a national 2013 survey of 517 US school leaders found that 94% of those surveyed believe one of the main benefits to parents is that school uniforms are more cost-effective than regular apparel, and 77% estimated the average annual cost of school uniforms per child to be $150 or less.†(naesp.org) When all is said and done the uniform can then be reused or recycled within the family, they also can be donated back to the district making them available for other children. Accordingly, requirements of wearing school uniforms would lift the burden of cost for many families.
